5 Step Approach
1. Understand our clients and their goals
We take the time to get to know our Clients and understand their goals. As part of our initial meetings, we strive to gain a thorough understanding of our Client's full financial picture, since this information is crucial to developing guidelines for how the account will be managed.

2. Develop a custom strategy
Maple Capital's portfolio managers work closely with Clients and their advisers to tailor customized solutions addressing issues such as asset allocation, managing portfolios with low cost basis holdings or concentrated positions, and capital gains constraints. Maple Capital's services may be used for single strategy accounts or as a multi-asset class strategy involving two or more market segments.

3. Provide a written investment policy
We provide every Client with a written investment policy statement addressing such issues as:
- Client goals and objectives
- Client specific constraints such as cash flow requirements, capital gains limitations, security specific prohibitions, and desired transactions
- A recommended strategy to achieve the stated goals within the limits of Client constraints
- Asset allocation guidelines for the Client's investments as well as types of securities to be purchased for the various asset classes employed
- Guidelines defining the flexibility MCM may use to achieve Client goals

4. Execute the plan
Once the plans are in place, we seek to implement the strategy in a timely and efficient manner. However, we remain cognizant of capital gains, estate, and Client specific issues that may exist. The pace of plan execution may be set at the Client's discretion. The execution of this plan may include coordination with assets held outside of the portfolios we manage.

5. Disciplined monitoring & rebalancing
We continually monitor the holdings in our Client's portfolios and formally review each portfolio at least quarterly to ensure that asset allocation weights are within the established guidelines. We will rebalance portfolios when weights exceed the permitted thresholds. We will also rebalance portfolios to reflect our outlook on market conditions.
